In order to get a dividend of $500 per month, you would definitely need a portfolio of stocks that pay dividends and have a good yield. This means you would have to have about $150,000 in stocks that pay dividends to earn $500 per month if it has an average yield of 4%. By calculation, it would be $6000 per year. But you would need to diversify the investments into reputable companies.

That is true, however it also lies in the ability to select the combination of high-yield and growth stocks. Depending on a single sector will also put your earnings in jeopardy.
