In order to purchase a stock, you have to open an account with a licensed brokerage company or trading platform. After depositing money, you get to search and find the stock you are interested in, how many shares to buy, and then place an order. Once this trade is made, the shares will show up in your account meaning you are now a bonafide shareholder of that company.
