How do I start teaching my children financial literacy?

Post by TheSmartInvestor »

It's now important to educate your kids on finances so as to develop their financial literacy. One can begin by teaching them the basics like saving, budgeting and letting them understand the value of money. To make the learning easier, one can utilize an allowance system, games or real life facts to teach them how to manage money. I believe this will make it a lot easier for them to grasp the concept.

I have been teaching my children how to manage money. But before you start to teach them, they need to know the value of money before they can manage money.

What I do is get them involved in financial decisions in the family no matter how small it is. That is how they can begin to develop skills in financial literacy gradually.

Yes, there is an advantage in starting to teach the kids financial literacy earlier. Allowing children to make some financial decisions on their own like testing them with their allowance could be a good start.
