Donald Trump says the United States will slap an additional 50% tariff on China. This is as a result of China’s retaliatory tariffs of 34%.

He says if China does not withdraw its 34% increase by tomorrow, the United States will impose additional tariffs on China which is 50% effective from April the 9th, 2025. That is what the markets in China and the rest of the world are facing at the moment.

A threat by president Trump to impose a 50 percent tariff on China in addition to the duties that are currently being imposed at 54 percent adds up to a total tariff of 104 percent that is poised to trigger a trade war.

The tensions between Trump and China are rapidly growing. It is an ambitious step, but it can increase the price of any drug to consumers and mess up international trade.
