How do I know if I'm making a profit?

Yes, it's quite easy to know if you're making profit from your equity investment. You are making a profit if there is an increase in value, higher than the price you paid for your equity. Your regular portfolio check will let you compare the buying price against the market price every now and then.

It's absolutely easy to know if you're making profit by visiting the performance tab on your brokerage account. That gives you insight into your stocks.

I think it's also good to remember to include the transaction charges and taxes as part of calculation as well. That's how you can estimate your real profit.
