The forex market operates using seven major currency pairs. They are:
- EUR/ USD
-USD/JPY
-GBP/ USD
-AUD/ USD
-USD/ CAD
-USD/ CHF
-NZD/ USD.
The two currency pairs which dominate the trading volume in the world and dictate the market are EUR/USD and GBP/USD. Each of the currency pairs have distinct features. EUR/USD is very liquid and responsive to economic news in Europe and the US whereas GBP/USD can be volatile. So, it has the capabilities to lure short-term traders. It is important to know how each pair moves and the economic activities that drive them before investing in them.

Re: What are the 7 major currency pairs?
That's true! Those are the major currency pairs that are being traded in the forex market. I would add that these are well-traded currencies and that is why they attract a lot of liquidity. But new traders should be careful of GBP/USD pairs because it's very volatile and can wipe your money quickly, especially if you don't have good risk management skills.
