The crash is short term if it is a market correction. Otherwise, it could start a bear market which is difficult to time. Apathy towards the stock market can also cause a crash in prices. When the prices are falling, investors become fearful, leading to further selling and declining prices.

We must not forget that investments come with both risk and return. One must balance the two. Investors ask for high return if the risk is high; this is the case of Bitcoin. If you want lower risk and lower return then go for stocks. It All depends on what you want.

Investing in Bitcoin, and by extension cryptocurrencies, comes with high risk due to the unpredictability of the price. However, one can diversify by holding stablecoins which are tied to certain currencies or other instruments, e.g. USDC.
